Artist. She was a German artist, who was a painter and an etcher, mainly documenting the local Frankfurt cityscape. She was a student at the Städelsches Kunstinstitut under Anton Burger and Heinrich Hasselhorst. She traveled to Italy about 1891, Paris in 1896 and later, southern Germany. In Munich, she took etching lessons from Peter Halm. She became associated with Kronberg painters' colony, which was the oldest art colony in Germany. Her media sources were oil on canvas, watercolors and etching. In the Paul Arnsberg's textbook, "Images of Jewish life in Old Frankfurt," 36 of her etchings of buildings in "Oldtown" were published. After Adolph Hitler's National Socialist regime came to power in 1933 with persecution of the Jewish population, many of these old synagogues were destroyed, hence her etchings documented these buildings. In the 150 published textbooks, "The Old St. Peter's Church and its Surroundings in Frankfurt," she had published 14 pen drawings in 1895. Many of these buildings have been destroyed since her drawings during the World Wars. In 1898 she made 60 copies of 16 etchings of Simon Moritz von Bethmann and his family. These drawings were never made available to the public in bookstores. With this rarity, a copy is estimated at $250 in the 21st century. Working with a host of poets, she drew illustrations for numerous poetry collections. Born the daughter of a pastor, her birthplace was the vicarage at Schäfergasse, which was destroyed in 1895. Her grandfather was head of the local grammar school. After becoming ill in 1897, she was limited in her ability to work, yet did not have to depend on her work for income. Her grave marker stated she died in 1945 but legal documentation states that she died in 1939. In 2006 a street in Frankfurt was named in her honor. Most of her work is privately owned.
