He was born in the Briery Branch community on April 2, 1928, a son of the late Walter and Rhoda Wenger Allman.
Surviving is his wife, Edith Fulton Allman, whom he married June 7, 1990. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Keppel and Shelia Murphy; two granddaughters, Ryan and Evan Wetsel, all of Harrisonburg. Also surviving are three brothers, Carl Allman and wife, Mary Alice, Homer Allman and wife, Joyce, Gary Allman and wife, Shelby, one sister, Bernice Bowers and husband Gene, all of Bridgewater; and a number of nieces and nephews. One brother James Allman, and one sister, Phyllis Strickler, preceded him in death.
Clyde was a member of the Montezuma Church of the Brethren and the Seekers Sunday School Class.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a general contractor for Cadinal Homes and retired in 2001.
Clyde enjoyed the out-of-doors and especially bear hunting and fishing. For a number of years he served as Fire Warden for the Dry River Ranger District. He also enjoyed traveling and working in his wood shop. A number of items he made were donated to the Disaster Auction for the Church of the Brethren.
A memorial service will be held at the Monezuma Church of the Brethren in Dayton at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008. Pastor David R. Miller and Janet Whetzel will conduct the services. Private interment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens will be held earlier in the day.
The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
Clyde's body rests at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home where friends may call. Friends are also welcome at his home in Bridgewater.
