A true role model, a tower of strength in hard times, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a friend and most importantly a firm believer in our Creator. Mrs. Carrie Holland Rummels was the lovely daughter of John and Matilda Holland. She married Mr. Wilkin Derrick(Sonny)Rummels on August 28, 1926. Sonny died on January 3, 1963. Carrie and Sonny were the proud parents of eight beautiful daughters, Ethel, Delores, Constance, Theresa, Dorthea, Karen, Gloria and Linda. The Rummels also cherished their six sons, Milton, Melvin, Thomas, Terry, Ricky and Darrell. Mrs. Rummels was a very active member of The Second Baptist Church in Rock Island, Il. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, a member of the Deaconess Board and a charter member and President of the Morning Star Club. At the time of her passing she was the oldest member of the church. When she was not busy with her church activities Mrs. Rummels was spending time with her 30 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and her one great great grand child. She also enjoyed the company of her siblings, Etta Mae, Opal and James. We Miss You!!!!
