Ron attended Wheaton Schools and graduated from Wheaton Central with top vocational honors as well as being voted "best dancer". A natural athlete with an even greater gift for making friends, Ron enjoyed every sport from Little League through high school baseball, football and track, and lived for the friendships he made along the way. After high school Ron attended the College of DuPage and followed his father's footsteps into the sheet metal trade. He served his apprenticeship, with DuPage Heating and went on to work for Wagner Sheet Metal, Glenhurst Sheet Metal and numerous other companies through the years. Ron was a member of the Union Local Sheet Metal Workers #265, Carol Stream. Although he made his living bending metal, he enjoyed working with wood as well and made beautiful black walnut speaker cabinets. For all of the many good qualities that Ronald possessed, one destructive quality seemed to possess him, and he could not escape it's grasp. Those who love him, grieve his death, but take comfort in his deliverance from a life fraught with trials to an eternity of triumph through the Grace of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four siblings, Craig (Kris) Baker of Baton Rouge, LA, (and their children, Loren, Julie and Erika), Brian (JoAnn) Baker of Corpus Christi, TX, Carol (Karl) Murbach of Boise, ID, Gary Baker of St. Charles, IL; several nieces and nephews; and one great aunt, Ms. Esther Kjell of Rockford, IL.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and one aunt and one uncle.
Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, November 13, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Community Congregational Church, corner of Main and Shannon Streets, Elburn. A Memorial Service will conclude visitation at 7:00 p.m. The Rev. Katherine Lawes will officiate and private interment will follow at Lakewood Cemetery, Elgin.
Memorials in his name may be mailed to: P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119. They will be applied to various alcohol rehabilitation and research funds as well as the September Eleven Disaster Fund.
