Ezra was a retired farmer/rancher. During the Civil War he enlisted in the US Army on 12 Oct 1863 in Urbana, and was discharged from service on 11 Jul 1865. He served as a Private in Company A, Iowa 18th Infantry Regiment. He married Martha A.E. Andrews on 14 Apr 1859. Ezra died of a stroke at his Springfield home.
