He was a USMC Vietnam Veteran. After returning from Vietnam, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant in the NWC Fire Department, China Lake. He was a highly successful sales manager with Robert Bosch Corporation, based in Chicago for more than 10 years, and a Bakersfield business owner of Furniture Medic Bakersfield and Blackmon Design Commercial Furniture Services since 1993.
He loved his family and his dog. He loved computers, tools, woodworking, and building things. He loved fishing, camping, the outdoors, and bird watching. He gave to his country and his community, and often donated his time to BARC (Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens), The Bakersfield SPCA, and especially to Habitat for Humanity, which was his favorite.
Underneath those broad shoulders, rugged good looks, and Marine Corps stare, he had a heart of gold and is missed dearly by all who knew him, and especially by his family.
