Wesley Lawrence Ainsworth, peace-fully passed from mortality through the veil August 11, 2003 at age 85.

He was born in Sandy, UT Aug 3, 1918 to John Lawrence and Ellen Olson Ainsworth. He was reared on a farm in Crescent, UT with his mother, father, and sister, Maxine. He was accustomed to hard work, milking cows, and feeding animals. Thinning beets and hauling hay made his summers especially busy. He was a graduate of Jordan High School, Sandy. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Boy Scouts, Sunday School, bishopric (Sandy 3rd Ward), and as a veil worker in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Wesley loved to sing, whistle or hum his favorite tunes. He married Mabel Sims in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Nov 28, 1940. They were the proud parents of two sons, W. Brent, and Craig S. After living for only six days, Craig passed away in 1953. Wes was a Veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army with the Corps of Engineers, including active duty in Europe. Upon returning home from the military, he worked for Kennecott Copper. He was then employed by Associated Food Stores, Inc, and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.

He was best known for his integrity, his ability to work long and hard, and his love of the outdoors. Many have said he was the most honest man they ever knew. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. Bowling was also a favorite.

He is survived by his son, W. Brent, his wife, Carolyn, Salt Lake; grandchildren, Bevan, Aubrey, Braden (serving an LDS Mission in Brazil), Kelsie; and great-granddaughter, Tayler. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel (his companion more than 55 years); son, Craig S.; parents; and sister, Maxine Danjanovich.

A special "thank you" is extended to Joyce and the wonderful staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living, as well as those at the Marion Center, St. Joseph's Villa, and CNS Hospice. Their loving care and attention have been greatly appreciated.

Services Thurs. Aug 14, 2003, 11 a.m. Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State where friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m. or Thurs. one hour prior to services. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
