Clement Akerman

Clement Akerman, a former professor at University of Washington and Reed College, died Monday at a Portland Convalescent home.

He was 93 and lived at 332 SW Hamilton St.

Mr. Akerman was a past president of the Pacific Coast Economics Association. He was a native of Casterville, Ga. His father, the late Amos T. Akerman, was attorney general of the United States from 1869-71.

Since 1944, Akerman has been a professor emeritus of economics at Reed College.

Surviving are his wife, Isabella, Portland; two step-sons, Dudley Winters, Vancouver, Wash., and Kenneth M. Winters, Portland; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Clement Akerman Memorial Book Fund at Reed College.
