He was serving as the navigator on B-17F #42-30493 which took off from Snetterton Heath assigned to target the Hispano-Suisa complex near Paris. Flying the No 5 position in the Low Squadron the aircraft was shot down by fighters over Paris on the bomb run. 9 KIA 1 POW
All nine KIA were interred in New Cemetery at Virofly, Paris.
