Mr. Ewing was born in Abilene, Kansas on November 14, 1928, the son of the late Vernon Raymond and Ella Mae (Britt) Ewing.

Eugene attended Grandview Elementary School, Riley, Kansas. He attended Leonardville High School and graduated from Riley High School, Riley, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Kansas State, Manhattan, Kansas with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering.

Eugene was a member of First Presbyterian Church McPherson, Kansas. He was an elder for 15 years in the church.

Eugene served in the U.S. Army in the # 9771 First Technical Service Unit during the Korean War.

Eugene was a Chemical Engineer at NCRA McPherson, Kansas, working for the company for 33 years.

He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troup #133 and Pack #130, McPherson, Kansas serving as a scout leader for almost 50 years. He received the Distinguished Silver Beaver Award and the Vigil Honor of The Order of the Arrow through the Boy Scouts of America.

Eugene C. Ewing was united in marriage to Marian C. Nelson on November 5, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Riley, Kansas.

Survivors include: his wife, Marian of the home, daughter: Karen Martinez of Buhler, Kansas; son(s): David (Carrie) Ewing of Warrensburg, Missouri., Steven (Tanya) Ewing of Salina, Kansas., Mark (Carrie) Ewing of Bel Aire, Kansas; sister: Claudia (Mort) Sanders of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 8 grandchildren; Sarah, Ian and Shane Ewing, Emily, Elena and Annie Ewing, Jamison and Janelle Martinez; many nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Oren Duane Ewing and a daughter Diane Marian Ewing.

Friends are invited to call Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, KS, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7th, with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating.

Graveside service will be on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Riley Cemetery, Riley, KS.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church or The Boy Scouts Troop #133, both of McPherson, Kansas.
