Mary Margaret MacGuire Boehm, 96, of Chattanooga, TN passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010.

She was born November 16, 1913 in New York City to William B. and Sarah O. MacGuire.

She graduated from Hunter College in NYC and in 1939 married Dr. Walter Edward Boehm whom she had dated through high school, college and medical school. Mary was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and for many years was active in the Ladies of Charity and the Riverview Garden Club.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, a kind mother-in-law, and a favorite aunt and great-aunt. She was a legendary cook and meals at the "Boehm Home" were noted for the fare as well as the camaraderie. Friends were known to drop in at dinner time and were always welcomed at her table.Since the death of her husband of 56 years, she had been living independently offering a glass of wine to visitors who regularly appeared around 6 p.m.

She is survived by her brother, Dr. William B. MacGuire; sisters, Kathryn Prescott and Pat Sunderland; six of her eight children, Walter (Marie-Helen), Jeffrey (Gray), Peter (Susan), Paul (Judy), Janet Boehm Horton (Bill), and Jo Agnes Boehm.

She was predeceased by daughters, Mary Maher (Barry) and Sara Boehm. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

The Boehm family would also like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Sue Buckner, Margaret Rainey, Sherry Keith and granddaughter Claire Horton.

Special thanks are also due to Effie Jones for her 30+ years of dedicated service and friendship. Thanks also to Hospice of Chattanooga.
