Anna and Polly were both engaged in prostitution in Chicago.
"Polly" and Anna were with Dillinger at the Biograph theater on the night of July 22, 1934. The movie playing that night was "Manhattan Melodrama" starring Clark Gable. As the three left the theater, the FBI, on a tip from Anna Sage who made a deal so as not to be deported back to Romania, were waiting outside. Dillinger was shot and killed. Anna and Polly escaped unharmed and lived in Detroit for two weeks following the death of Dillinger.
Eventually, the FBI did deport Anna Sage back to Romania where she died on april 25, 1947, from liver failure.
Polly returned to Chicago under an assumed name and married a salesman, William Black.
