Funeral services for Morrison L. Lowe, 57 prominent Cookeville businessman were held at the 9th St. Church of Christ Sunday afternoon. Walter Bumgardner officiated and was assisted by Gilbert Shaffer and Ray Kinslow. Burial was in the Cookeville City Cemetery.
Mr. Lowe died at Cookeville General Hospital on Saturday after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage on Friday.
His death came as a shock to his many friends and relatives as it was thought he was in good health.
He was a native of Gainesboro, but he had lived here most of his life and enjoyed a wide friendship with residents of this area. His trademark was a friendly smile with all he came in contact with.
He was the son of Mrs. Lucy Cumming Lowe who survives, and the late Gideon Harris Lowe, and was a member of the Church of Christ. One of the members of the 9th Ave. Church of Christ, Mr. Lowe served as a building trustee and did alot of the supervisory in the construction of the church.
A veteran of WWII, he was a member of the American Legion. He was a past president of the Lion's Club and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a shriner and Knight Templar.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Flossie Jared Lowe, son, Morrison L. Lowe Jr., twin daughters, Misses Laura Shield and Lucy Cummings Lowe who are students at Mary Baldwin College; one grandson, Morriosn L. Lowe III, all of Cookeville; 2 sisters; Mrs. Ralph Jared of Buffalo Valley, and Mrs. William Douglas Paschall of St. Louis; 2 brothers, Robert W. Lowe and Gideon H. Lowe of Cookeville.
