Caroline was the daughter of Willis Alexander Deaton(1799/1869) and Lydia Rumple Deaton (1806-1892).

Caroline was the second wife of Jacob Valentine Pethel. Together they had the following children all born in Rowan County, NC

Mamie Lydia Pethel married Daniel Odell Allman and they had one child Elvia Beatrice Allman who became an actress staring in shows like I Love Lucy, Murder She Wrote, My Three Sons and many, many others.
