ODESSA, TX - Javan Clifton "Pete" Cherry, 87, passed away Friday, July 2, 2010, at Hospice House in Odessa. He was born Febuary 12, 1923 in Horatio Ark to Jerry and Ottie Cherry. He served in the US Army during World War II, earning three Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Cherry; children, Randy Cherry of St. Paul, Minnesota, Margaret Adcock of Mississippi, Earl Cherry of Odessa, Mary Rudloff of Odessa; brother, Junior; sisters, Melowene, Gwendolyn and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous loved ones.
Mr. Cherry is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, son, Jessie Javan, and daughter, Carolyn Crownover.
Services were held Monday, July 5, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Don Russell officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
