He died at the Hereford, Texas POW Camp on May 8. 1945. He was a Captain.

He died on March 8, 1945, at the Hereford POW Camp in Texas of massive hemorrhage caused by stab wound to heart inflicted by a fellow prisoner who was being treated for paranoia.
He was killed while passing out candy bars. He ran out of bars and when he turned to get more, the other Italian, thinking he wasn't going to get one, stabbed him in the heart.
He was exhumed and returned to Barlassina, Italy, on December 10, 1996. His tombstone reads: May 8, 1945. He was an Italian Corporal.
