Singer. He was an American R&B/soul singer. A Detroit, Michigan native, who was born Joseph Stubbles. He was the lead singer of many different groups throughout his recording career: The Falcons during the late-1950s and early 1960s, the million-seller, "You're So Fine" (1959), and "The Teacher" (1960); The Contours a Motown R&B Group in the mid-1960s hit "Just A Little Misunderstanding, it was a Top 20 R&B Hit in 1966 peaking at #18; The Originals mid-1960s, his recording was brief with the fellow Motown group, first single release was "Goodnight, Irene", which did not chart; he then recorded as part of the group 100 Proof Aged In Soul, late 1960s and early 1970s, their biggest success was "Somebody's Been Sleeping", which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and later became certified gold. He was the brother of Levi Stubbs who sang with The Four Tops and the cousin of R&B/soul singer Jackie Wilson .
