Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 4 for Lyndon B. Allen, son of former Congressman and Mrs. A. Leonard Allen of Winnfield.

Mr. Allen died unexpectedly in his sleep at home in Shreveport Saturday night. He was 45.

He was the brother of Eighth Judicial District Judge Harwell L. Allen of Winnfield and his uncle, O. K. Allen was governor of the state.

Born on June 15, 1918, Mr. Allen grew up in Winnfield and was graduated in 1941 from LSU's law school. Afterwards, he became an FBI agent before serving in the Army during World War II attaining the rank of captain.

In 1946 Mr. Allen went to Shreveport to practice law and also entered the oil operations business.

He was a member of the Shreveport First Baptist Church and also held membership in the Shreveport and Louisiana Bar Associations, the Shreveport Country Club, the Petroleum Club, and American Legion.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife and two daughters, Karen and Peggy.

Funeral services were held in Shreveport First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert J. Potts, officiating. Graveside services were held in the
Winnfield Cemetery with Rev. Potts and the Rev. Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Don Thompson, R. C. Byrnes, Matt Milam, Jr., Dayton Waller, Joel Brown, and William Plaster.
