Stephen (Steve) W. Hess, 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. He was born October 21, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA and soon after moved to Pico CA.
He graduated from Pico High School, and later received a bachelor's degree in Engineering. He proudly served our country In the US Army from January of 1956 to January of 1959. He was a pioneering factor in the fiber glass bath tub and shower industry across the United States for over 35 years and was President of Hess Co (La Habra, CA) for 22 years and Fiber Care Baths (Adelanto, CA) for 14 years.
Steve was a resident of Apple Valley for the last 14 years, He was a Devout Catholic and regularly attended his perish at Our Lady of the Desert Church. He was a member of Cruzin Buddies car club, and the Moose Lodge. He was also a proud member of Building Industry Association (BIA). He was a family man to the fullest extent of the meaning. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, camping, his 34 Chevy, backyard BBQ's where he could watch his great grandchildren play, and he loved watching his daughter Kathy get behind the wheel of her off road race car.
He is survived by his children, Kathy (Tom), Robert, Richard, Ronnie, Randy, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Faye Elliot, Linda Marley, and brother Charlie Hess. He was a great Father, Grandfather, Big Poppy, Brother and Friend. He will be forever missed and loved by many.
A mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Chapel at the Mission Inn, 3649 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, California. Interment service will be at 1:01 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Ave., Riverside, California staging area # 5, Riverside, California.
