Essie was the daughter of Jarvis Hamilton Dean and Eapha Rosana Sheer Everhart. Jarvis & Eapha never married. Essie married Jacob Peter Wells September 3, 1894 and had 8 children.

Taken from the October 11, 1917 issue of the Owen County Democrate:

Essie Daisy Sheer was born August 22, 1876, departed this life September 26, 1917, 41 years, 1 month, 4 days.

She was united in marriage September 3, 1894, to Jacob P. Wells. Daisy being the first to break the family record, leaves a most loving husband, five daughters and three sons: Ethel Megenhardt, Floyd, Warren, Altha, Genenve, Geneva, Marie and Harley; one grandchild, Elizabeth, a father, mother, one sister, Stella Allen, of Newman, Ill.; two brothers, Fred and Earsy Everhart, of near Arney, Ind., and many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

Daisy has been a constant sufferer for years, but always bore her suffering patiently.

One by one earth's ties are broken
As we see our love decay.
And the hopes the family cherished,
Brightened, but to pass away.

One by one our hopes grow brighter
As we near the shining shore,
For we know across the river,
Waits that loved one gone before.
