Author. He is most noted for his bestselling novel "The President's Plane is Missing" (1967), which was made into a television movie adaptation in 1973. The older brother of Rod Serling, he was raised in Binghamton, New York and studied at Antioch College (Ohio), from where he received his degree in English. Following service as an aircraft identification instructor during World War II, he began his lengthy career as a journalist with United Press International. He wrote several books on aviation, including "Legend & Legacy": The Story of Boeing and Its People" and "Character & Characters: The Spirit of Alaska Airlines." In addition, he served as a sports reporter with the Washington Redskins. Serling also contributed to his brother's TV creation "The Twilight Zone", serving as technical adviser for the classic 1961 episode "The Odyssey of Flight 33", and wrote the suspense novel "Something's Alive on the Titanic" (1993).
