The first wife of Henry A. Strong, the first President of Eastman-Kodak. According to published obituaries, she was noted among her friends for her beautiful Christian character and her charities endeared her to the people of Rochester, where they had a home with all that wealth could procure, her husband being principal stock holder of Rochester's most flourishing institutions. Mrs. Strong was survived by two daughters and one son. Mrs. Helen Archilles and Mrs.George Carter, the latter the wife of the Governor of the Hawaiian Islands, where both daughters reside and where Mrs. Strong was preparing to go, when prevented by physical weakness which ended in her last illness. Henry Strong Jr.of Rochester is a son, and Mrs. Ed Burke of Niles, is a niece of the deceased. Mrs Strong was was a daughter of of Robert Griffin, whom older residents of Cass County will remember. It is understood that Mrs. Laura Wilbur and daughter Beula did not reach the bedside of her sister before death. She struggled with diabetes for most of her adult life but was very resilient according to another obituary. Also the picture featured on this site is Hattie who was the second wife of Henry Strong. After she passed away her son from a previous marriage sued the estate for money that went on for years.
