LAYTON--Joseph Bonnemort Adams, 79, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999. Joe was born on May 18, 1920, a son of Melvin M. and Vera B. Adams in Layton, Utah, where he was raised. He attended schools in Davis County and while at Davis High School, quarterbacked the football team to their first State Championship in 1937 and was selected to the All State Team. He married Ruby Mitchell in 1938. They were later divorced. Joe was a member of the LDS Church and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater as a medic. He married Leah Poll in 1950 and together they operated "Little Joe's" Cafe in Layton for over 35 years. He was a farmer, rancher, and horseman. Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leah; daughter, Sandra (Paul) Smith; sons, Steven M. (Brenda) Adams and Joel L. (Connie) Adams; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie A. Whitesides. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Van; and a great-granddaughter, Savanna Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 1999 at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 12-1:30 p.m. prior to the services. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
