Jack Lebern Champion, age 74 of 2535 Lincolnton Hwy., died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby.

Jack was born in Cleveland County on December 28, 1935, the son of the late Ed Champion, Sr. and Lela Wright Champion, A retired mechanic with 30 years of service at Carolina Freight Carriers, Cherryville and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crouse, N. C. Preceded in death by parent, a daughter, Judy Kay Champion, brothers: Ed Champion, Jr., and Ralph Champion, sisters: Ethel Weathers, Luna Welmon, Ruth Hopper, and Laurene Champion.

Survivors include his wife Louraine Thomas Champion, of the home Sons: Jack Thomas "Tommy" Champion, of Cherryville, Darren Wayne Champion, of Crouse, Daughter: Teresa L. Champion, of Gastonia, Brothers: Raymond Champion, Buford Champion, Joe Hal, Champion and Ray Champion, All of Shelby, Sisters: Vernie Houser, of Charlotte, Brenda Marlowe, of Gastonia, Dianne Earwood, of Shelby, Grandchildren: Trenton Champion, Haley Champion and Camren Champion.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00PM Thursday, February 11, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Crouse, N. C. with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating, The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:45PM at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
