Katherine Rena (Gann) McDaniel went to spend Christmas with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on December 23, 2009. Katherine was born in Port Arthur, Texas on May 21, 1924 to Selma (Walther) and John Thomas Gann.

A lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Katherine was a retired banker, having worked at First National and Sabine Banks.

Katherine was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland, TX. After being washed in the waters of baptism at Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Arthur, she confirmed her faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 10, 1938. Her life centered around joyfully serving her Lord, adoring her family and inviting everyone she met to become a part of her Savior’s family.

She was preceded in death by mother and father, as well as her husband, Morris Edward McDaniel.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (McDaniel) Yosko and husband, Michael, of Groves; grandson, Micah David Yosko, of Groves; granddaughter, Katherine Elise (Yosko) Graham and husband, Jaysun, of Nederland; and brand new great-granddaughter, Eliana Augusta Graham.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, December 27, from 5 to 7 PM, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2711 Helena Avenue, Nederland, Texas.

A Service of Celebration will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 28, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Reverend Francis Schroeder and Reverend David Bass officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) or to the Holy Cross Lutheran Early Childhood Education (ECE), 2711 Helena Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627.
