Anchorage and Wasilla resident CATHERINE LUCILLE BRODHEAD, 76, died May 20, 2000, at Alaska Regional Hospital after a long battle with cancer and diabetes. A service with a visitation was held at the Sunny Knik Chapel. Honorary pallbearers were James Aamodt, Ed Crawford Jr., Gregg Sullivan, Steven Woodman, Terry Langholz and Jiggs Giggliotti. She was buried next to her husband, Thomas A. Brodhead, at the Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla.

Mrs. Brodhead was born Oct. 3, 1923, to Charles E. and Addie L. Sullivan in Gordo, Ala. In 1948, she homesteaded in Knik with her first husband, Joe Redington Sr., and their three children. Her family wrote: ''In her early years in Alaska, she loved to hunt, fish and garden with her kids, and she readily recounted fishing and hunting stories. Catherine was an excellent cook and loved to make smoked salmon, moose jerky and canned fish. Anyone who knew her enjoyed her southern cooking and never went away hungry. ''Her hobbies were spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and her many friends. She loved watching her grandsons' sports activities: football, basketball and sled dog racing. She and her husband, Tom, enjoyed playing bingo. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.'' Mrs. Brodhead was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and her husband, Thomas.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Jo Aamodt of Anchorage, sons and daughters-in-law, Joee Redington Jr. and Pam of Manley, Raymie Redington and Barbara of Knik; grandsons, James and Gerald Aamodt of Anchorage, Joee Ray and Heather Redington, Ray Jr., Vernon, Ryan and Robert Redington and Lissa Rae Rylander; and six great-grandchildren; niece, Charla Crawford; and seven other nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary & Crematory.
