Barbara A. Aceto, 86, of Murray Street died Tuesday in a local nursing home after a long illness.
She was born in Rumford, a daughter of Louis and Amelia Waishwilla, and graduated from Rumford High School and Gray's Business College.
For more than 25 years, Mrs. Aceto was employed by the Portland Press Herald, retiring in the 1960s.
She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church.
Her husband, Thomas Aceto, died in 1982, and a grandson, Michael Wilson, died in 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Marie Wilson of Portland, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Pius X Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. Arrangements are by Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home.
