Lloyd Wallace Casselman was born in Minnesota on April 24, 1922 to Harold W. Casselman and Regina Hanson, both of Minnesota. He married Evelyn Berge on July 25, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina and they lived in Highland. He was a pilot in the U. S. Air Force for 23 years and died at the Bay Community Hospital in Chula Vista from a heart attack.
Lt. Col. Lloyd Wallace "Swede" Casselman was one fo the first pilots to fly over the North Pole. He had over 5,000 hours of flight time and received the Distinguished Service Cross and the Bronze Star while in the air force. He flew over 50 missions in the Southern Pacific during World War II and retired in 1964. He later taught elementary school at Oro Grande and Bloomington Elementary School. He was survived by his wife, Evelyn, sons David and John, and a daughter, and two granddaughters, and a brother, Kenneth.
