Jack left his family far too soon, on May 7, 1972, the first victim of serial killer Arthur Shawcross. He was missing for four months before being found and returned to his family.
He was buried in North Watertown cemetery in September 1972. He is in Section W, in an unmarked grave between the graves of William Howard and Leland Parker. The funeral home marker with his name was stolen many years ago, and only a concrete square remains to identify the site.
UPDATE:
November 2013 - A childhood friend of Jack contacted his family and anonymously donated a marker for Jack. It was installed at a dedication ceremony on November 26, 2013.
