Marian (Paulson) Hamilton, 99, of Scottsdale, AZ and formerly of Langdon, ND passed away October 5, 2008 at the Pueblo Norte Nursing Home in Scottsdale, AZ.

Marian Allegra Paulson, daughter of Joseph and Cathrine (Behrens) Paulson was born February 3, 1909 in Osnabrock, ND. She was raised in a loving Christian family with six brothers and a sister. She attended school in the Concrete area. At 16 years of age, Marian graduated from high school. The following fall she opened and taught at a country school for another teacher and taught for three months. The money she earned enabled her to attend Valley City State Teacher's College. In the fall of 1926, with a permit from the County Superintendent of Schools, Marian taught a nine-month term near Crystal, North Dakota. In 1927-28 Marian taught at a small school near her home. In June, 1928 she attended the Teacher's College in Mayville, ND where she received a teaching certificate. She was then contracted by Langdon Public Schools where she taught third and fourth grades, as well as directing many musical programs for the school. Marian's teaching career spanned 26 years. Every morning she read a Bible story to her students. She retired at 62 years of age, but continued as a substitute teacher for many years.

Marian was united in marriage to Adam (Kenneth) Hamilton on June 8, 1937. She took eleven years off from teaching to be married and have three sons. She went back into teaching when her youngest son, Robert, was eight years old.

Marian's husband, Ken was involved in many oil and service stations over the years. Ken and Walter Nuelle had a hardware business in Faribault, MN for three years before he returned to manage Ken's Service Station in Langdon. They were active members of the Presbyterian Church in Langdon where Marian directed the choir and taught adult Sunday School. Marian was a member of PEO, an international women's educational organization.

In 1992, Marian moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where she was very involved in Scottsdale Bible Church. She took seminary level Bible classes and was active in the lives of her family and many friends until a disabling stroke at 93 years of age. She was lovingly adopted as "grandma" at the Pueblo Norte nursing home and continued to impact lives until her death.

Marian is survived by her sons: Eugene, James and Robert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, her brothers and sister, and daughter-in-law, Nancy (Tangen) Hamilton.

Interment will take place in the Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, ND
