A memorial service will be Sept. 2 for William J. Spence of Eugene, who died Aug. 28, 1988 of age-related causes. He was 81.
Spence was born Nov. 2, 1911, in Colorado. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
A resident of Eugene since 1958, Spence worked for many years as a presser at McAyeal's Wardrobe Cleaners & Shirt Laundry. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 293, and volunteered as a senior companion.
Thurdsay's service is at 7 p.m at Campbell Senior Center in Eugene. Inturnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangments
