MRS. EMILY MARTIN KERR.
A telegram from Brandon, Mississippi, conveyed the sad announcement of the death in that city of Mrs. Emily Martin, wife of Rev. J. W. Kerr, sister of General William T. Martin of Natchez. Mrs. Kerr was in the 70th year of her age and was recognized as one of the most brilliant daughters of the South. She was widely known and enjoyed a most extensive acquaintance. She was noted for her brilliant mind, intellectuality and numerous accomplishments. Her beautiful Christian character won for her the love and admiration of all whom she met and her death will be deeply deplored. She had been in failing health for some time and last week her brother, General Martin, was called to her bedside. He left here for Brandon on Thursday evening and was a constant attendant at her side until the end. The body will be taken to Vicksburg for interment.

Mrs. Emily Martin Kerr, a noble Christian woman of Brandon, and a sister of Gen. Will T. Martin, of Natchez, died on Thursday last. Her remains were interred at Vicksburg, where rest the remains of her only child, buried many long years ago. Mrs. Kerr was 69 years of age.
