He was born on April 3, 1897, in Augusta County and was a son of the late James William and Viola Matheny Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alda Coffey Henderson; four sons, Earl L. Henderson and Maphis J. Henderson, both of Lyndhurst, Clayborne E. Henderson, of Fishersville and Bobby W. Henderson at home; four sisters, Mrs. John Demastus, of Route 2, Afton, Mrs. Kate Kellams of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Nora Drumheller of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Chattie Truslow of Newport News; three half-brothers, Jake Henderson of Winchester, Willie Henderson and Harmon Henderson, both of Lyndhurst; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Cecil Rowe of Route 1, Waynesboro and Miss Hattie Henderson of Lyndhurst. Eight grandchildren also survive.
The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until one hour prior to the service, when it will be placed in Mountain View Mennonite Church near Stuarts Draft. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Frank Hatter, assisted by the Rev. Roy D. Kiser. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Woodrow Hewitt, Wilson Hewitt, Jesse Bridge, Paul Brydge, Reginald Hatter and Charles Quick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sidney Shirley, Dr. William A. MacIlwaine, Robert Monroe, A. Ree Ellis, Sidney Quick, Jesse Quick, R. W. McGann and E. O. Davies.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8 p.m.
