At the time of his death he left his mother, Helen J Goggin Barton of Westboro; six brothers, Francis P Barton of Framingham, Lawrence E Barton of Shrewsbury, Terrence A, Edward J, Michael and William J Barton, all of Westobro; three sisters, Eileen A, wife of Daniel Grimley of Grafton, Connie A Haskell of Oklahoma City, and Nancy J Barton of Westboro; his maternal grandfather, Edward Goggin of Westboro, and several aunts and uncles.
He was born in Marlboro and lived most of his life in Westboro. His father was the late Luke P Barton.
He graduated eighth grade from Westboro Jr. High School and twelfth grade from Assabet Valley Vocational Technical High School with honors in carpentry in 1977.
