Effie Quesenberry Duke, 83, of Pulaski, died Friday, February 27, 2004 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born January 31, 1921 in Pulaski County, and she was the daughter of the late Uyless Quesenberry and Cittie Reece Quesenberry. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Turner; sister, Nellie Marshall; brother, Robert Quesenberry; and a grandson, Ricky Turner. She was a retired employee of Jefferson Mills with 47 years of service. She also helped her husband Jim operate Jim's Steak House in Pulaski. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski. Surviving are her husband, James D. "Jim" Duke, Jr., Pulaski; one son and daughter-in-law, James D. "Donald" Duke, III and Kristie Duke, Lynchburg; one sister, Guida Harrell, Pulaski; three grandchildren, Tyler Duke, Lynchburg, Ashley Massie, Lynchburg, Pam Fuller, Columbia, SC; three great-grandchildren. A committal service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Christ Episcopal Church with Rector Vickie Houk officiating. Visiting will be Monday evening from Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
