Officer Wixted was struck and killed by a drunk driver while directing traffic near the Philadelphia Convention Hall, 34th and Curie Ave., following a basketball game. Officer Wixted was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries early the following morning. The driver was charged with reckless driving.
Officer Wixted was survived by his wife.

Solemn Requiem Mass, St. Edward's Church, 10 A. M. Int. Holy Sepulchre. Viewing Wed. eve."
