When Frances Ann Lawrence was born on August 31, 1844, in Mississippi, her father Jonathan E. Lawrence was 22, and her mother Nancy Coney was 16. She was the first of six children. Prior to 1850, her family moved to Jackson Parish, and by 1860, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. She never attended school and could not read or write.


She married Edward Jenkins "Jenk" Morgan on January 2, 1870, in Rapides, Louisiana, when she was 25 and he was 18. They had eight children, four of which died as children.


In 1880, they had a farm in Rigolette, Louisiana, and they were living next door to her brother-in-law John Franklin "Frank" Morgan, where her mother Nancy Coney Lawrence was living with their family. 


Frances joined Sprinhill Methodist Church in 1882


In 1899, her husband completed the requirements for homesteading and received their 40-acre land grant next door to Springhill Methodist Church. Sometime prior to 1910, the moved to Claiborne Street in Pollock, Louisiana. 


Frances Ann died on November 17, 1910, while living in Pollock at the age of 66, and was buried at Springhill Methodist Church Cemetery in Springhill, Louisiana.
