Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 24, 1996:

Dorothy C. Boeckner, our mother and grandmother, was born on August 11, 1912, to Frank and Emma Overholt Holdeman at their home in McPherson County, Kansas, near Hesston. She suddenly left us on October 26, 1996, at her home, reaching the age of eighty-four years.

She was reared on a farm northeast of Hesston, in McPherson County, Kansas. As a girl in the home she gave herself to the work, as well as helping others as the need arose.

As a girl of fourteen, she answered the call of God and was baptized in 1926, upon the confession of her faith into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by Min. Earvy Yost.

On July 27, 1947, she was married to Dan Boeckner. She became the mother to the children of his first wife. To this union were born two sons. They resided on a farm four miles north of Hesston. Dannie passed away on October 8, 1973. After his passing she moved into Hesston where she lived until her death. She lived close to her sister, Nina, and they shared many good times together.
Mother was steadfast and was concerned that her grandchildren would get converted and was always happy when they did. Grandma's friendly ways and ready smile will truly be missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are: four sons: Robert and wife Arlene, Macon, Mississippi; Donald and wife Janis, Greeley, Nebraska; Wilbur and wife Dorothy, Moundridge, Kansas; and Alton Dean, Liberal, Kansas; and one daughter, Virginia, Mrs. Norman Wenger, Galva, Kansas; three brothers: Adin and wife Elsie, Hesston, Kansas; Willard and wife Clara; and Wilford and wife Martha, Moundridge, Kansas; three sisters: Nina, Hesston, Kansas; Emma Burns, Rio Verde, Brazil; and Twila Unruh, Halstead, Kansas; twenty grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, three brothers, one sister, and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at the Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Hesston, Kansas, on October 29, 1996. Ministers Eldon Wenger and Shawn Giesel were in charge. Burial was in the Meridian Cemetery with Min. Charles Nightengale in charge.
