Judge Sopris was a bachelor. He died at his home, 1337 Stout Street, Denver, on January 13, 1929, at the age of 75 years. Survived by a brother, E. B. Sopris; a nephew, Allen J. Sopris, Denver; and three nieces, Mrs. Frances Sopris Arnold, Denver; Mrs. Belle Felix and Mrs. Charlotte S. Reed, Washington, D. C. Mr. Sopris was a past president of the Society of Colorado Pioneers and a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations.
His body was cremated and the ashes interred in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.
