Monsignor Lenk, Director of the Diocesan Ministry to Retired Priests, was born the son of Frank and Margaret (Sullivan) Lenk. He spent his childhood in Leicester and graduated from Clark University, in Worcester in 1947. He also attended the University of California and served in the Army during World War II as an operations sergeant. He was ordained June 22, 1952 at St. Mary's Parish in Spencer by the Most Rev. Bishop John J Wright.

Msgr. Lenk was associate pastor at Christ the King, Worcester; Sacred Heart in Hopedale; Sacred Heart, Gardner; St Aloysius, Rochdale; St. Mary's, Jefferson; and St. Bernard's, Worcester. He then served at St. Paul's Cathedral, Worcester and St. Philip's, Grafton, where he was chaplain at Grafton State Hospital. He was pastor at St. Denis, Ashburnham; St. Camillus de Lellis, Fitchburg; St. Mary of the Hills, Boylston, where he was chaplain of the MCI Pre-release Center in Lancaster; St. Mary's, Jefferson and at St. Ann's, North Oxford.

In 1984, Bishop Timothy J. Harrington appointed him as director of the Diocesan Ministry to Retired Priests. In 1992 Charles Lenk was named a monsignor by Pope John Paul II. He died after a long illness, leaving three sisters, Ruth M. Lenk of Westboro, Elizabeth Andronikos of Bonita, FL, and Marylou Pahigian of St. Petersburg, FL; two nieces and a nephew. His funeral was at St. Patrick's in Whitinsville.
