Fulton William Carter, 53, of 1225 Fourth St., city, died at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, at 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
Born March 6, 1902, in Sherando, Mr. Carter was a son of Ernest William Carter, of Waynesboro and the late Mrs. Sallie Fox Carter. He was a watchman at Fairfax Hall Junior College for 17 years and was a member of the Church of God.
In addition to his father, Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ona Bailey Carter; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Ward, Avon, and Miss Wanda Joyce Carter, Waynesboro; one son, Howard Carter, Waynesboro; one brother, Oscar Carter, Waynesboro; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Pannell, Mrs. Nettie Kennedy and Mrs. Lula Dedrick, Waynesboro; two grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at the McDow-Tyree Funeral Home and will be placed in the Sherando Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. John R. Crouch. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Carter.
Honorary bearers will be Charles Lafferty, Harry Nash, Earle Dolly, Paul Smith, E. O. Davies, Lee Patterson, Mike Keenan, J. R. Patterson, Floyd Crouch and Bolling Loving.
