Alice "Pinkey" (Marie) Cedio, of North Water St. Stonington, passed away peacefully at the Westerly Hospital on March 11, 2009 at the age of 89. Pinkey was the wife of Rosario Cedio, who predeceased her on June 30, 2006. Born in the Stonington Borough on October 3, 1919 to the late Charles P. and Mary S. Marie. Pinkey graduated from Stonington High School in 1937. Upon graduation, she joined the Alfred Sheffield Insurance Agency, located in the area now occupied by the Dodson Boat Yard, until Mr. Sheffield retired. Pinkey then assumed ownership of the agency operating it as the Alice E. Marie Insurance Agency until her retirement.

In addition to being a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Pinkey was an active member of the Stonington Borough community. She was a longtime volunteer at the Stonington Como Thrift Shop and for Children's Friends and Family Services of New London County. She also served as a member of the Stonington Historical Society, along with numerous other community and charitable organizations.

Pinkey is survived by her sister, Mrs. Anna (Tesa) Downs and her husband, James, of Carolina, RI; her brother, Joseph T. Marie and his wife, Dorothy, of Pawcatuck; and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Florence Marie of Westerly, RI. Also, she leaves her nephews, Thomas C. Marie of Medfield, MA and Dennis F. Marie of Blacksburg, VA; nieces, Patricia (Marie) Naslund of Pawcatuck, and Judith M. Marie of Brookline, MA; and many grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She also leaves behind many kind neighbors and friends.

She was predeceased by her brother, Francis "Cappy" Marie and sisters, Marietta "Margie" Marie and Katherine "Kitty" Marie Gilbert.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 13, 2009 from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Mystic Funeral Home Route 1 Mystic followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 PM at St. Mary Church, 95 Main St. Stonington. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery Stonington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary Church 95 Main St. Stonington, CT. 06378.
