Indianapolis 500 Racing Official. He spent more than the last 40 years of his years of life in an effort to improve auto racing in general and the Indianapolis 500 race in particular. He joined the staff of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1910, prior to the first Indianapolis 500, and served with distinction as Vice-President as well as General Manager under all three track owners. During those four decades, he ran the day-to-day affairs. He made three trips to Europe as a “Good Will Ambassador” for the American racing fraternity and served for many years as a member of the American Automobile Association Contest Board. He was still working for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway when he passed away in February 1954.
