Captain Agan was the pilot of a F4U-4 Corsair fighter with Marine Fighter Squadron 212, Marine Air Group 12 aboard the aircraft carrier USS BATAAN (CVL-29). On January 20, 1951, During a bombing run on enemy positions, his aircraft was damaged by the explosion of his bombs. He crash landed in the water one mile off shore and eleven miles south of Inchon, South Korea. Upon being rescued, he was found dead from exposure.
