Jimmy Braddock "RED" Johnson, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community and retired heavy equipment mechanic died friday, december 12,2008 at his home on pattie road in fayettee county. He was 71 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnson were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, december 15 at the peebles west funeral chapel in oakland with the rev. John Ed Watkins, pastor of the morris chapel baptist church in sommerville, officiating. Interment followed in the eads cemetery at eads,tn. Arrangements were provided by pebbles fayettee county funeral homes-west chapel of oakland.

Mr. Johnson was born august 8,1937 in the eads community. he was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy David Johnson and Maggie Henley Johnson. He was educated in the shelby and fayettee county public school systems and served in the United States Army as a young person.

Mr, Johnson was of the baptist faith and was a lifelong resident of shelby and fayettee counties. He has resided in the Hickory Withe Community for the past 33 years and was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for the Fowler Paving Company in somerville and standard construction company in memphis before his retirement.

In earlier years he enjoyed vegetable garding and drag racing activities that included racing and the building of drag cars.

Survivors of Mr. Johnson include his daughter, Brenda Kay Franks of Oakland; his son Ronnie Gene Johnson of Williston; two sisters, Bonnie Manley of memphis and Betty Thomas of Desoto county, MS; three grandchildren: Jimmy Michael Johnson, Barry Keith Johnson, and Minnie Carlina Devore and five great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Thurston crook, Donald Johnson, Barry Keith Johnson, Jimmy Micheal Johnson, Barry Burch and Andy D. Thompson. Jerry Watson served as honorary casket bearer.
