Robert Bruce Hunt, (1860-1883) age 23, was the son of former Territorial Gov. of Colorado Alexander Hunt and his wife Ellen Kellogg Hunt. Gov Hunt named the city of Durango. Robert was in the wrong place at the wrong time when the city had it's first bank robbery and he was shot and killed there.
Inscription reads: "Assassinated by a burglar Dec 16 1883 in the 23rd year of his age."
