Mrs. Albert (Eva) Marx was born Eva Adeline Blote on July 15, 1916, the daughter of Carl and Augusta (Meyers) Blote in Manchester, SD. She attended school in DeSmet, Manchester and Huron, where she graduated from Huron High School in 1935. On May 25, 1944 she married Glenn Bates in Rapid City. They made their home in Huron. Glenn passed away in 1964. On February 15, 1965 she married Albert Marx in Pipestone, MN. They have resided in Huron since. Eva worked in the kitchen at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home for five years. She is survived by her husband, Albert, of Huron, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, Glenn, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Hilda MOORE, Ann LAHREN, and two infant sisters (Blote); and four brothers (Blote), Herman Blote, Otto Blote, Alfred Blote, and an infant brother of 6 mos, Carl. Eva died early Thursday morning at the Huron Regional Medical Center at the age of 80.

I found my Great-Great Aunt most helpful in learning more about our Blote family. Her Uncle Louis was my Great-Grandfather, her Father, his brother. She sent me the first photo she had saved of Louis which was a joy for me to see. Here is a copy of our correspondence which clearly shows how loving and sweet she was.

Dear Beth:
"It was so nice to have you call - really made my nite. I was so happy to know we had a relative on the Blote side - I often wondered about Erwin and Hazel and Iva. We got to see the three of them in 1957. Visited a week with Iva and her husband at that time was Neil TERRILL then a couple years later they spent several days and nights with us. My two sisters at that time one from Illinois and one in Minnesota came so we all had a fun time. Iva still wrote until she married this last husband, then she quiet for some reason or other. Erwin, Hazel & Lucille (Iva's girl) stopped for a very short visit in 1965 on their way to Estelline where the Uncle Louis and family lived, but that was the last I saw of them. Hazel promised to write but I never heard from her, why I don't know.
Gloria, Allen, son Brian and wife, Amy stopped for a while Sat evening all had been out to our State Fair. Were tired and still had little over a hundred miles before getting home. Gloria showed me and left a copy of what she had done about the Blote's. Had about my folks as her Dad was one of my bro's so I'll not repeat it at this time. If I can answer any more questions for you I'll gladly do so.
I'm enclosing a picture* of my Uncle Louie with 2 white geese nailed up on side of his Meat Market. He was noted for making the best ring bologna and other sausages for many years people used to talk about how delicious his bologna etc was. I can well remember it too and wish I could buy some now that was that good. Also including a young picture of Uncle Louie's four kids by his first marriage. Thought you might like to have them. I should have one somewhere of your Grandma Erwin in overalls and holding a straw hat by his side. So I hoping some day I can settle down and look for things. I know you'd like to have that too.
Several years ago when two feet of snow on ground we were on our way to my sis in Minnesota. We decided to go out of our way to Estelline, S.D. to the cemetery. We waded through deep snow and my husband said do you know where your Uncles' graves are, I said yes. So I copied down the years and family buried out there, was surprised the stones were cleaned off as a fence around them and was afraid I shouldn't go in there but this is what I found.

His daughter Alice FRICKE of first wife died 1939, buried in Brookings S.D. Youngest daughter of first Four: Lucille is buried here in Huron Cemetery. I don't know her birthdate or when she died but hopefully I'll get some pep again and check out to cemetery she was only 19 - died of "kidney poisining" while early stages of pregancy.
Thanks again Beth for calling me and writing to me. Do hope we can do some corresponding now. Happy to know you're so interested in the Blote family alot of the family wouldn't think of it. I know I couldn't do it. Thanks to Gloria and you Beth for going ahead with it. I haven't seen your Dad or Erwin Jr since young boys. What about Erwin Jr., is he married and with a family or what.
