Bartholamew owned a farm near the cemetery on Butler Rd. In 1860 a fire burned down his house and 2 little boys died. His wife Agnes Galloway is also buried here. The graves are marked with a large BARKER/GALLOWAY Marker with individual marble headstones for Agnes, Bartholamew, Isabel Galloway, Roberto, Edward, and Thomas. Both Thomas and his father died in a Washington DC camp after enlisting in the Civil War. This photo was taken from a tintype shortly before his death from disease before he saw action.

Enlisted on 27 October 1862 at Maple Grove Township, Barry County, Michigan; he was residing in Maple Grove Township prior to his enlistment at 40 years of age; mustered in on 11 November 1862, Troop K, Michigan 6th Cavalry Regiment as a Private; died of disease (pneumonia) in a General Hospital at Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky. -- U.S., Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, 1861-1865.
