Bill Atkin was Principal of Clovis High School in the 1960's and was a past president of the Fresno County Historical Society. He stimulated interest in California history and more specifically, the history of Fresno county.

Bill was the 7th Noble Grand Humbug of the California Historical Society Jim Savage Chapter 1852 of the Fraternal organization E Clampus Vitus in 1967.

Always an Educator, he taught a generation what local history was about. He has been honored with a plaque of his likeness on the side of the Miner's museum in Murphy's California for his commitment to history. Gone to the Golden Hills.
