James Daniel Adkins, age 73, husband of Sharon Willard Adkins, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021.


Born in Beckley, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Harold S. Adkins and Doris Barker Milam. Mr. Adkins was formerly the Head Electrician for High Point College and Guilford County Schools before retiring as the owner of Jimmy Adkins Electric. He loved his dog, Buster, and to hunt and fish. Mr. Adkins also loved cars, especially his '66 GTO. He was always willing to help anyone who asked.


In addition to his wife, Mr. Adkins is survived by two daughters, Shannon Heath (William) and Kim Reaver (Scott); four grandchildren, William James "Jimmy" Heath, Jacob Daniel Heath, Caitlyn Elizabeth Heath, and Keri Anne Reaver; a sister, Drema Vecellio (Floyd); a brother-in-law, Larry Newsom; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Brenda Newsom.


Private funeral services are being held by the family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the medical staff of High Point Regional attention to Dale Williams, Chief Medical Officer, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center, 601 N. Elm Street, High Point, NC 27262 to honor all of the doctors and nurses who cared for Mr. Adkins.
